Vintage Gibson Les Paul Deluxe 1973 - Cherry Sunburst - 1 of 179 "Standard"
Brand: Gibson
Ah, the Norlin era. Nailing down what we have here was certainly a challenge. This guitar was bought brand new at Sam Ash in New York City in 1976. As far as the customer knew, they were just buying a Les Paul Deluxe with full size humbuckers rather than the mini humbuckers... right? Turns out in the years 1972-1975, Gibson made 216 specially ordered full size humbucker "Standards" while still including the "Deluxe" truss rod covers. In 1973 there were only 179 made, and we strongly believe that is what we have here. All of the wiring is completely original and the pot codes confirm this being a 1973. There is no sign of additional routing, and the pickups are period correct. The original tuners have been replaced with chrome Schallers, as was common at the time. The jack plate has also been replaced. Other than the tuners and jack plate, this guitar is completely original. The frets do have a fair amount of wear, but still plenty of material and was setup in shop with no issues. The weight is 9 Lbs. 9 Oz. The original case fell apart years ago and was replaced with a reproduction "chainsaw" style Gibson case that is included.
